HFE Bill 2008

A Sad Day:

On Monday 19th, and Tuesday 20th of May our MP Gordon Prentice had a free vote on each part of the Human Fertilization and Embryology Bill when it was discussed in the House of Commons. This means that he could vote with his conscience and in the Catholic Church we believe that any decision should be made with an informed conscience.

He chose to reject all the amendments, and voted with the party line (Labour) in favour of allowing:

A) The creation of animal / human hybrids
B) The removal of 'the need for a Father' from law and birth certificates;
C) The increased use of embryos in stem cell research
D) Further liberalisation of the Abortion Laws.
