Celebrating Our FIRST Year Anniversary

It was a long summer evening towards the end of July when I was told about the new young priest at 'Holy Saviour's' that had arrived the year previous, full of new idea and exciting projects, all committed to the idea of opening up this parish, now his parish, to making it a welcoming place for everyone.

I was being told this as one of his ideas was to create a parish website that could be used as a way of sharing the events, both happy and sad that would occur within the parish. It would be a way to allow visitors to look into our parish and see the good things that we do and the kind of people that we are. It would allow people from afar who used to be part of our parish, but have for whatever reason moved on to look back and see what is happening.

In the years before I had created the website for our secondary school (Ss. John Fisher & Thomas More RC High School) and although no longer involved in that project, the idea of again being involved with creating and maintaining a site that could potentially be of use to so many appealed to me.

Thus on the weekend of Saturday 22nd July 2006, rising from the ashes of the now defunct Fisher-More website, the new website of Holy Saviour Parish Nelson was born.

A Few Words of Thanks

This website is the great site that it is thanks to all the time and effort put in by so many people. I would however like to single out a few of them for a mention:

Firstly I would like to thank Father Chris, for without him there would be no website! Plus his regular Journals or 'blogs' help keep the site up to date and relevant, with his views, opinions and prayers.

Secondly I would like to thank Corrine who has constantly kept me supplied with the latest Newsletter, thus enabling me to easily update the website with all that is happening in the parish each week.

I also need to thank all the people who have sent in contributions, be they comments on the Discussion boards, minutes from Meetings or photos from Events. All these things have helped to create the rich website that we have today.

There is one person however who I need to give a special thank you to. Her name is Katherine Parker. Whilst it is I who creates, edits and maintains the website, her tireless enthusiasm, ideas and 'corrections' have truly pushed me to drive the website forwards, and whilst we don't always see eye to eye on everything, I would like to express my deepest thanks to her.

Thank you everyone.
